Anime North 2012: Friday

It's that time of year again! Anime North 2012 (ง´▽`)ง On Friday I cosplayed Howl from Howl's Moving Castle.

We got down to the convention at around noon, hoping to check in early, as there was an early pre-registration check-in at 11am this year! It was hella hot though.. I was boiling in Howl ;A;
They didn't even have the queues set up for the line though.. we had to wait extra even though we finally made it to the door...!

Friday overall was mixed feelings.. my boots were awful to the point of not being able to walk (I'm not exaggerating, I couldn't take a step by the end of the day and had to get a taxi back to the hotel). However everyone recognized my Howl cosplay so I felt pretty good :D I also hung out with my MOETRON group as well as my boyfriend...~

Overall I had a great time! :D My group and I (minus Jean who was in the artist alley) went to take photos by a grassy area near the back of the convention. It was a little isolated, but I think we got some great shots!

Since I couldn't manage Howl's crazy jacket and a camera at the same time, I didn't bring my camera that day and so had to use Sachie's. (They're the same camera though so the same quality of shots).

Here are some shots Sachie took for me!

There was a lot of fooling around.. but that's why I love it! We made some nice memories together♥(ಡ౪ಡ)

I also had to cut my Senjougahara Hitagi wig Friday night! Jean ordered my wig from Fantasy Sheep (which apparently is a really popular taobao store??). Either way the wig was a DREAM. It was super thick and had a wonderful colour! It was also easy to brush and didn't slip too much on my head. I was super impressed! I was worried for her bangs though, since Hitagi has an unusual style.. I think I did ok? ;w;

And then I had a bath to ease my sore feet huhu (。í _ ì。)

benefit Hervana Blush Review

These photos have been sat in my folder for a while, but wanted to really try out this product before reviewing it.

This is the benefit Hervana box blush!

The box design might turn off some people. To me, it's unique packaging that stands out while still being compact. It closes securely and has a mirror (even though I don't use the mirror much). The product smells delicious, like candy! The smell doesn't transfer to your face though, which is good.

The idea is that you swirl these colours together. This is my first time using a product like this where it has a mix of colours. It creates a nice cool pink that suits fair skin tones.

I also noticed you only need a LITTLE to go a long way. This is really great considering the price. I admit I splurged on this one, but I'm glad this will last me for quite a long time. Since it's a pressed powder it also won't expire for a while... (this is me trying to justify this purchase ;A;)

This is the brush it comes with. I like it when products come with extras like this because it's handy to have on hand. The brush itself is alright, I like how it's angled so it feels like I have a little more control.

The only thing is that there is no separate compartment, so I have to keep it in the sleeve to try and reduce the brush picking up too much product while having it in the box.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Review

More reviews I have been meaning to do for a while!

A while back I came across these on sale in Shoppers Drug Mart so I decided to pick them up. I've heard sooooooo much about them. How they're similar to MAC paint pots and that their value is great etc. When I was looking at the available shades in the store, I noticed that many of them had sold out. I even had to grab the ones on the display (not the testers obviously) since they were the last ones.

I got Tough as Taupe and Pomegranate Punk.

Tough as Taupe

Pomegranate Punk
One thing that bothered me was the sticker on the top. I hate the little bubbles and I can't get rid of them! Otherwise the packaging is pretty nice - a hard plastic pot. It just makes this drugstore product appear a little more refined.

They're cream shadows.. and yet they don't slide. Tough as Taupe is a matte... taupe that actually suits me well! I like using it as a base for other shadows as it adds a little more depth. I really love the colour of Pomegranate Punk, as it has a subtle shimmer and I've been lacking in plum shades.

Once you put these on your eyelids it'll likely last you the whole day. I have to really wash it off fingers after application, but I guess that's more of a plus since that just reaffirms it's longevity.

Howl Cosplay Progress + Reference

Hi everyone! I haven't written any cosplay posts in so long! Today I have a little cosplay progress for you on my Howl cosplay, as well as some other news for this year's Anime North 2012!!

On Friday and possibly Sunday, I'll cosplay Howl from Howl's Moving Castle. I've always liked his character because of that first scene when Sophie meets him. He's such a gentleman.. haha. I'm also cosplaying Senjougahara Hitagi from Bakemonogatari on Saturday if everything goes well... I'll need to cut the wig Friday night though, as Jeanie is grabbing my wig from China when she goes over. It's from Fantasy Sheep hoho.. my first taobao wig!

I took some reference pictures for Howl:

His hair makes no sense... I tried the best I could when cutting the wig. I don't think his hair would look good in real life lol. Sometimes you have to take liberties with cosplay.

I also took some practice shots thanks to my brother. I'm still missing some thing (his jewelry for example) but I'm happy that some things are coming together.

I look like a young Howl lol... I wonder if it suits me ~~

And a funny shot, since the lighting in this picture made me all moe... I fail as a man huhu;; ( ̄へ ̄)

Photos of the Week #1

I'm not going to fool myself into thinking that I'm going to be able to do this every week, but every once in a while I'm going to try and take some photos that catch my eye and then put them here. I think it'd be neat to see how my skills develop as a photographer, as well as seeing what interests me (as these things change over time).

G&G Dueba Blossom Grey Review

Hi everyone! Another review for you today: G&G Dueba Blossom Grey.
I received these lenses for my birthday from the lovely Sachie! I've been eyeing this pair for a while so I'm really happy she purchased these for me! Thank youuu ♥

Specs!
Diameter: 14.3mm
Water Content: 38%
Base Curve: 8.6mm
Type: 1 Year Disposal

You can take a look at these lenses on PinkyParadise's website.

I was looking for a pair that didn't cover my eye colour too much. The images on their website made it look like they gave your eyes this adorable frosty look. I also loved the little tornado effect of the limbal ring, which made them look a little more interesting for such a simple design.

As per usual, PinkyParadise gives out a free animal lens case. I think this time I got a green bear? I can never tell haha.
Initially when I looked at the lens I was surprised at how much grey there actually was. I really like that limbal ring though. I feel like it'll blend better than the typical spikes you get with most limbal rings...?

Indoor with flash

As you can see, the grey doesn't really show up in photos. It seems to just darken my light blue eyes though which is actually kind of cute!

Overall
Colour is 3/5 (Doesn't change it completely.. just darkens it)
Design is 4/5 (Nothing special, but that tornado limbal ring makes it less simplistic and it blends really well.)
Comfort is 4/5 (Hardly noticed them!)
Size is 5/5 (Great for everyday, but still gives that doe look. You don't look like an alien)

If you're looking for a dramatic change in colour (ex for cosplay) then look elsewhere. For everyday, or if you need just that extra 'pop' to your natural eye, then this is a pretty good choice!
If you have brown eyes, PinkyParadise also sells the Blossom Brown.

Until next time!
