Checkup on daily life.

Hey guys, just doing the odd checkin to let you know where I am in life right now...!

I was a bit out-of-commission because last Thursday I had my wisdom teeth removed.Photobucket The procedure itself was alright. I was really nervous because I'm not good with needles and I have a fear of surgeries, so when it was time to put me under I think I gave the doctors a bit of trouble from all of my shameful panicking.Photobucket I think I actually fainted when they started the anesthesia just because I've heard it takes longer to fall asleep then the time it took my to go.Photobucket He started the stuff and then BAM I was gone lol...

The worst thing hasn't been the actual pain, but not being able to eat the foods that I want to.. Photobucket Since for the first day you can't feel a thing since the anesthesia is still in effect. Then you're on some wicked pain medication so it doesn't hurt for much after that except in the mornings when you wake up. Even though it's been a week, I still ice my cheeks so I don't have much swelling, although I'm starting to bruise..Photobucket

Other than that there hasn't been much going on!

Next week I'll be working with my lovely MOETRON girls to work on my STRENGTH cosplay for FanExpo 2011. It's going to be wicked, so please look forward to it!Photobucket

And the other thing is I went to go see Captain America last night.Photobucket The movie itself was ok, but I'm glad I went to see it just for the spoiler Marvel movies always show at the end..... soooooo excited for May 2012!Photobucket

And that's all!
Until next time!

Thoughts on: Flowers & Bushes.

I wonder if I am the flower or the bush.

What determines it? Age? Personality? Wealth? Family? Looks? Dreams?

Is it that I am still vibrant and delicate, as I move on to another year at university... and being 20 years old?
Or is it that I have left the age of being watched and sought after for my looks and instead decide to grow larger, more stable roots that makes me desirable?

When people pass me, do I stand out beside the sea of other people? Or do I blend in because I am not too concerned with my own life?

If I am a bush, I look at the flowers and wish I could be more like a flower.
But if I am a flower, do I really wish to be a bush?

And even if I am a bush, flowers can still grow on me and hide my stems and leaves. I find the idea very rude that, even though flowers have all these assets, they don't find it enough to just keep them. They have to cover up the worth of the bushes so by-passers only see the vibrant flowers.

Always being compared... how can a bush stand up against a flower?

The only comfort I find for bushes, if it is true that I am one, is that there are far less gardeners who have an idea how to take care of flowers than there are gardeners who know what they are doing when they buy a bush.

DUAL POST! KONAD & "BABY" BLUE NAIL POLISH

Hello everyone! I'm excited to share this post with you today!

While this may not continue with the package of goodies I received as a gift, this is still beauty related and I hope you enjoy it. Please comment below and tell me what other things you'd like to see in future posts!Photobucket

Anyways, here is the first item I have on my list for you today:

Konad Stamping Nail Art Kit
I cheated... I bought this on eBay ;A;... OH GAWD FORGIVE ME!
But anyways, I first saw these on a gyaru's beauty channel on YouTube and was instantly intrigued. I've wanted to get into nail art for the longest time, but was having a bit of trouble because I'm terrible with my left hand.Photobucket If I wanted to try a design, then I could do it with only one hand! Photobucket

At first I thought this idea of stamping a design on your nail was too good to be true, but here's my take on it:

Talking about the packaging, it's rather pleasing to the eye. I mean, even though there are butterflies and flowers everywhere, what can you expect from something that decorates your nails? The kit I purchased comes with a stamper, an image plate and a small-sized bottle of their 'special' nail polish (usually white). However because I picked mine up from eBay, the seller offered me a second image plate of my choice.Photobucket

You can check out the official website listed above to check out all of their plate designs! There's something for everyone it seems and packages that suit the casual to the hardcore nail artist.

When looking at the plate designs, it might be a good idea to write down the plate number (for example, I have both m77 and m39). It's easy to lose track of your favourites and it would suck if you ordered the wrong one!

So, to use the stamp set, you can refer to the directions on the back of the box. Apply your nail polish like usual until it's COMPLETELY dry. You don't want to smudge it...! (This brings me to part two of this post as well!)

"Baby" Blue Nicole OPI
I don't even care that it's Justin Bieber. It's a GORGEOUS robin egg blue...
And just a couple things about this polish:
  • Goes on very opaque (I only needed 1 coat, but applied 2 out of habit)
  • Bright colour
  • OPI hasn't failed me before. Just remember to apply a top coat so it doesn't chip as easily!
Also, I apologize for my cuticles... I have a habit of biting them when I'm nervous or stressed. (I just had some oral surgery so I'm not surprised they're this bad haha;;)

And the shot using the design plate!
I have to say, I had to try this over again about... 3 or 4 times before I managed to get an image on the stamp. I say an image because I literally went from 0% on the stamp to a 100% clear design. I feel accomplished, though, for being able to flaunt a cute design like this (FINALLY)Photobucket

Final thoughts
Pros:
  • Hundreds of designs to choose from
  • The appeal of an easy system
  • Pretty nails! AT LAST!
  • You can purchase read-to-go kits (there are many different ones on Konad's site)
Cons:
  • You have to purchase plates, where you may not love all of the designs on it
  • You have to use their longer-drying nail polish
  • Learning curve
  • Have to clean the plate after each use
So I would recommend this to anyone who deserves a little help with their nails! Perfect for gifts to young girls and even moms! It's fairly high maintenance, but the results are worth it if you have the patiencePhotobucket
Although... if you're a starving student like myself... go have a look on my old friend eBay. Most sellers are holding a deal with mixing and matching plates and polishes... so to get the most bang for your buck, take a look there firstPhotobucket. Just make sure it's authentic.

Until next time!

RIMMEL Eye Makeup Remover Review

Alright! So here's the latest review I have for you. Photobucket
I got the urge to take pictures last night when I cracked open another product I received recently. So I hope you enjoy it!

RIMMEL London's eye makeup remover

The Promise:
  • Gently removes all eye makeup, including long lasting & waterproof makeup with no oily residue.
  • Will not sting or irritate eyes.
  • Suitable for sensitive eyes & contact lens wearer
  • Dermatologically & Opthalmologically tested.
  • Oil free.

Directions:
Apply cleanser to cotton wool/balls, gently sweep over eyes until all traces of makeup are removed.

As far as the design of the bottle goes, it isn't anything flashy. I prefer this because my first impression is of a clean experience (like their aim is truly cleanliness rather than putting all the budget into the packaging). The top is a flip cap and it's easy to dispense the liquid onto your cotton ball/whatever. The bottle itself is a nice size so I feel I get a good amount for the price.Photobucket

The liquid is clear and doesn't smell.

You can find this product in your drugstore (for me in Canada, it's Shoppers Drug Mart).

It's very important to take off your eye makeup before you go to sleep because of a few things:
  1. Your makeup will smudge during the night and it'll be hard to get rid of the raccoon eyes the next morning
  2. Bacteria can build up while you sleep
  3. Your eyelashes will be more prone to falling out. Since eyelashes are a different type of hair, they grow slower and leave you with sparse eyelashes if you don't wash them regularly. (However there are good bugs on your eyelashes, so it's important not to over wash)
I like to use one cotton pad for each eye. Just like when you wear contacts, it isn't good to mix bacteria and what else from one eye to the other. In case any of the solution gets in your eyes, using an extra cotton pad can help prevent any infections.

A shot of my eye before taking the makeup off....Photobucket

.... And as you can see, all traces of eye liner and mascara are gone.Photobucket My eyeliner was a very good waterproof kind. Also, the whites of my eyes aren't irritated (I actually got a little bit of solution in my eye by mistake lolPhotobucket. When this happens, keep your eyes closed and flush thoroughly with water. The uncomfortable sensation should go away).

In all:
  • I like the clean look of the bottle
  • It's comfortable on my sensitive eyes and skin
  • My eyelids felt a little moisturized after!
  • It does what it says (removes eye makeup)
  • Affordable and accessable
I hope you enjoyed this!
Until next time!

Sweet Jelly lipgloss review

So! I have a lot planned for this blog for the next little bit!
I was recently given a whole WHACK of beauty products by a friend of the family's. Even though it wasn't asked of me, I'd like to review some of the products for you guys!Photobucket

So the first one is:

RIMMEL London's Sweet Jelly lipgloss!Photobucket
As soon as I saw these I thought they were the cutest shades, so I was really happy to try them out!
The one on the left (light pink) is called 'Yummy' and the other one is called 'Delicious' (sooo cute~~!). So this will be a sort of comparison post, but I have a feeling that these guys will share an equal amount of love from me haha!

Anyways, I've been using RIMMEL products for a while now, and I'm always satisfied with their products because they aren't afraid to go a little funky with their shades. In this case, the shades are pretty generic, but I would recommend any of RIMMEL's products (that I've tried so far at least).

OK! So this lip gloss is meant to offer a non-sticky formula that tastes good! It's also sheer, so it won't colour your lips as much as, say, a lipstick or some other lip gloss~! (Which is nice if you want a more nudy/flirty look that isn't too dramatic)

The lighting's a little weird, but you can tell that Yummy is a little more peachy than Delicious. You can also see the glossy effect on my wrist and how sheer it is (This is actually applied pretty thickly here so the colour showed up better).
Even after I wiped off the gloss, my wrist was very smooth and felt moisturized!Photobucket So after you've been eating and drinking while wearing this, you can still feel like your lips are still looking perky!

Nevertheless, these glosses are great for school, a casual day out or even just stepping out to go to the movies! While it still has that glossy texture (which might not be for you) it still offers that cute feeling you have of your lips feeling full and flirty!

Until next time!

L'Oréal vs Maybeline eyeliner review

Hi everyone! I love eyeliner so much, and for the past couple of years I've kept to Maybeline's waterproof eyeliner. (you can find it in most drugstores) But recently I've been using L'Oréal's eyeliner, so here it goes:

Maybeline
  • Waterproof
  • Comes in extra black, black and brown (Those might not be the names, I'm just doing the basic colours here)
  • felt tip applicator
  • liquid

L'Oréal
  • comes in waterproof or... not waterproof (in this case, I'm comparing the non-waterproof one)
  • black and brown
  • felt tip applicator
  • liquid

Comparing the two here is what I have to say:
The look of both eyeliners is very plain. I think L'Oréal's looks a little more elegant and mature, but you wouldn't have to be embarrassed carrying either with you to school or work. L'Oréal's is a little longer though, which I like because then I can have a better grip when applying the eyeliner. (In effect it is easier to apply consistent lines!)

In comparing the tips:

Maybeline is the far left, L'Oréal black is in the middle and L'Oréal brown is on the far right.
While the tip for Maybeline is pointier, it becomes thick way too quickly for my tastes. If I angle my hand only slightly while applying my makeup, I suddenly have a glob of liquid eyeliner on my eyelid. On the other hand, I find the L'Oréal tip much more flexible and easier to use. I can angle my hand with no worries and come out with a great look almost everytime.

Please excuse lack of concealer and brightness haha;; I wanted to demonstrate how thin I could go with L'Oréal's eyeliner!

You can also see that that the consistency is much thicker on both middle and right examples (but this could be because one they're newer than the one on the left).

In short:
I prefer L'Oréal's eyeliner to Maybeline's because even though the Maybeline is waterproof, the overall joy of putting on L'Oréal's eyeliner outweighs that.
Both last for majority of the day, but Maybeline has a habit of rubbing off.
If you want blue eyes to pop, then use a brown liner! They compliment each other.

Both are fine eyeliners. I just prefer one over the other.

Until next time!

Oral Dilemma....

This post might gross you out... I guess...?

So, I haven't posted much on twitter about this.. but for some reason my mouth has erupted into a fiery pit of pain.

We think it might be a few things:
  • My wisdom teeth are coming through and there's a bacteria buildup
  • The toothpaste I was using (it's a new one I decided to try out) has cinnamon in it
  • I ate something funky....?
I think I might be allergic to cinnamon because whenever I eat it, or something that contains it, my mouth becomes super irritated. So what's been going on with me is I have 3 canker sores (under my tongue, right side of my cheek and my lip) and an irritation on the side of my tongue (right side). It also sucks because my wisdom teeth are finally breaking the surface of my gums, so it really hurts too.

SO! That means:
  • no salty, sweet, hot, or spicy foods
  • no sugary foods (ex. fruit)
  • no chewy foods (meat) because my gums are sore from the wisdom teeth...
  • ONLY DRINK WATER (which is fine, but it still makes my mouth sting)
  • ONLY EAT SOFT PLAIN FOODS... so far I've only had pasta, soft bread and eggs for the past week or so..... ; A ;
I really hate this. If you can think of any foods that I could eat, then please comment below!
I'll try to think of something better to post next time because I know this must sound gross...

Until next time!
